About Plymouth U3A

The Plymouth branch of the U3A was founded in 1998 and now has over 650 members.
Plymouth U3A is a member of the Third Age Trust, founded in 1982, which has over 750
branches spread across the country with more than 231,000 members. U3A is an acronym for the "University of the Third Age", university being used in the more general sense of shared learning.General Meetings are held once a month in central Plymouth with the opportunity to meet other
members socially and arrange to join in the different activities. There is usually a speaker on a wide variety of topics ranging from travel and geography to aspects of health. There is no extra charge to members to attend these meetings and people are invited to attend a general meeting as a visitor to
find out more and to join.The group activities are run by and for members, who can use their previous life experiences and education to try something new and help others to expand their horizons.
